LP (Item 482426) Funky Delicacies, 1970s — Condition: New Copy

Heavy funk from Gene Anderson – some bass-heavy grooves that are almost a St Louis take on the P-Funk groove of George Clinton! Most of the material here has a late 70s vintage – rare singles issued by Anderson for the local market, and which show a great ear both for his own groove, and for directing the efforts of his larger group! There's a very strong Bootsy Collins vibe at times – a bad-strutting Gene out front of the pack, supported by lots of bumping basslines and snapping drums – touched with some wicked keyboards on some of the tastiest moments. A few cuts are slightly earlier – rougher funk with a very gritty groove – and titles include "The Poo Poo Man", "Party Freaks", "Give Up The Poo Poo", "Games In The Ghetto", "What's Wrong With You Girl", "The Gigolo", and "Baby I Dig You".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
