I Want To Be Your Babe
CD (Item 519995) Stardrome/Boogie Times (France), 1983 — Condition: New Copy
Mellow grooves and modern soul, all wrapped together with a nice degree of sweetness – thanks to the efforts of Curt Brumfield, who wrote, produced, and sang lead vocals on the entire set! The album's a sweet bit of underground soul from the early 80s – a homegrown effort, but one with a lot more depth than you might expect – a sensitive feeling on some of the album's mellower cuts, mixed with some tighter keyboard bits on the groovers. A few notches in the wrong direction, and the sound would be a bit too commercial – but Brumfield always gets the feel just right, and really keeps things in the kind of personal, heartfelt territory that steers clear of 80s cliches. Titles include "Game Of Love", "Drag On High", "I Want To Be Your Babe", "Where Has Love Gone", "Star Love", and "You Make Me Feel So Good Inside". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
