Herido
CD (Item 604551) Borinquen, 1974 — Condition: New Copy
Smoking salsa, but with a heartbreaking undercurrent – thanks to the vocals in the set! The grooves are already great – raw, youthful 70s material, played by a group who are clearly excited to be stepping out into fresh territory – but when the vocals come into the mix, things really hit home – with almost a slight quaver that works nicely against the tighter sounds of the music. We're not sure, but we're guessing the singer here is Sammy Marrero – who sung on other records with Raphy Leavitt's La Selecta group at the time – and he sounds similar, especially in the soulful undercurrents of the style. Titles include "Lamento Jibaro", "Herido", "Duena Y Senora", "Tormeto", "Negrito", and "Ambiente". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
