Sunny, energetic sounds from Seu Jorge – the first in a what we hope will be series of Musicas Para Churrasco releases, which loosely translates, we reckon, as music to bring to a barbecue – lightly funky Brazilian soul with that gritty, charismatic, instantly identifiable voice! What's so great about this set to us, is that it's sort of set up by Seu Jorge himself as simple, fun, everyday, don't take it so seriously kinda grooves – but it's too damn good for that! The arrangements are fairly uptempo and summer-y, generally in 10 piece setting with heavy rhythms, killer percussion, guitar, brass, keys and an all around effervescent style – but this ain't no tossed off effort! On par with his best recent work. Includes "A Doida", "Meu Parceiro", "Veia", "Ole, Ole", "Japonesa", "Quem Nao Quer Sou Eu", "Vizinha", "Amiga Da Minha Mulher" and more.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Really tremendous work from Caetano Veloso – an album as striking as its cover image, and a record that shows that, yet again, Veloso is one of the few of his generation who's kept growing as a creative artist! The sound is wonderful – very similar to the recent albums Ce and Zii & ... CD

Beautiful airy bossa! This album's a 1964 session of straight piano bossa tracks by Deodato, with production by Roberto Quartin – and a sound that's a lot more mellow and fragile than his other records from the time! Deodato is amazingly restrained in his playing, and sticks to only piano ... CD

The first album by this obscure and groovy early MPB-ish group – done in a great style that features with a range of voices laid out over some crazy off-kilter arrangements! The album's got mostly a bossa/samba feel, and in the same vein as Quarteto Em Cy or Tamba Trio, but with more space ... CD
