I Futuribili
CD (Item 629225) Gemelli/Cometa (Italy), 1972 — Condition: New Copy
Proof that the Italian sound library scene had way more to offer than just background music – a depth of amazing styles that more than live up to the legendary composers who worked in its service! This album is key illustration of that fact – hardly what you'd expect from a canned music release – as Egisto Macchi composed the album with a reach that's somewhere between avant modernism and eerie film score – an amazing testament to his keen ear for unusual sounds and textures, and their transformation in the studio! Each tune has a slightly different flavor, but one that's always complex – as familiar instruments are abstracted past their origins – and orchestrations are pulled apart slowly to create subtle levels of dissonance – yet without losing the slight tunefulness of the basic structure. The balance is breathtaking – and titles include "Capsula In Avaria", "Camere Anecoiche", "Nuovi Pianeti", "Punto Critico", "Nebulose", and "Fascia Radioattiva".
