Latin Jazz Go Go Go
CD (Item 484418) BMC/Neliz, Mid 60s — Condition: New Copy
A rare 60s indie side from Willie Rosario – every bit as hard-burning as his better-known work from the time! The arrangements here are very sharp-edged, and in some of the same territory as Joe Cuba during his sextet years on Seeco – kind of a precursor to Latin soul, with a mix of traditional touches and jazzy elements, all served up with a nice lean groove! Trumpets lead the instrumentation on most numbers, and the record features a bit of vocals from Paquito De Jesus – but the instrumentation is what really sends the whole thing home, and it's nice and tight throughout. Titles include "Flip Flop", "Mambo Nuevo", "Monina Y Ramon", "Isora Club", "Why Not Me", and "Soy Guajiro". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
