Hugh Masekela — Promise Of A Future ... CD 19.99

Classic work from Hugh Masekela – and the album that pushed him over the top! The record features his version of "Grazin In The Grass", a runaway instrumental hit when it was issued – and a sly little groover that was based upon some earlier South African pop melodies that Hugh copped from his roots. The group's a tight little quintet with Al Abreu on tenor and soprano sax, William Henderson on piano, Chuck Carter on drums, and Henry Franklin on bass. The whole thing's great – and tracks include "Stop", "Bajabula Bonke", "There Are Seeds To Sow", "Vuca", "Almost Seedless", and "No Face, No Name, and No Number". (Original pressing. Cover has some wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Boogie Down!
Tamla, 1974. Very Good+
One of Eddie's classic dancefloor groovers for Tamla, with production and arrangements by the hit team of Frank Wilson and Leonard Caston! The album keeps Eddie's hit "boogie" groove going strong – grooving mostly in a midtempo smooth soul style that would become a dominant ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mainstream, 1975. Near Mint-
Supposedly, this is one of the many incarnations of the group that's better known under the names Lafayette Afro-Rock Band and Ice. The material here is more in the vein of work by Ice – in that it's kind of faster Afro-Funk inspired grooves, with bass, guitar, organ, and lots of keyboards ... LP, Vinyl record album

Home Lost & Found (The Natural Sound)
Solid State, 1970. Very Good Gatefold
A very hip record – especially for the sometimes square Solid State label! The group is a very percussion-heavy one, with slight touches of jazz, and a very Afro-centric approach that is said to have "mixed appeal" in the liner notes. Wali plays conga and bongos, and does a bit of ... LP, Vinyl record album
