Lady Jazz (plus bonus tracks)
CD (Item 604606) Little Jazz Bird, 1974 — Condition: New Copy
A rare UK-only date from vocalist Jane Harvey – a record only issued overseas, but caught at a time when she was really maturing as a singer – working in ways that go far beyond some of her more familiar vocal modes of the early years! The shift is a bit like that which singers like Anita O'Day or Chris Connor were going through at the time – at one level more relaxed, almost as if there was no need to reach for the limelight – and at another more pensive, almost as if the lyrics mean a lot more to Harvey than they might have a decade before. The group on most numbers features piano from John Bunch, plus guitar from Gene Bertoncini and John Pizzarrelli – on titles that include "Tis Autumn", "It All Depends On You", "When A Woman Loves A Man", "The Very Thought Of You", and "Why Can't I". CD also features some other rare bonus tracks – including a handful that feature Harvey singing with the Benny Goodman group! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
