Let It Be Roberta – Roberta Flack Sings The Beatles
CD (Item 599062) 429 Records, 2012 — Condition: New Copy
The first new album by Roberta Flack in well over a decade – bringing out the soul in some classic Beatles tunes – and covering a diverse range! Roberta seems to only make records these days when she feels particularly inspired, and here she succeeds on a few fronts. First, she reminds us how great she remains, even in her 70s – putting her own unique stamp on these Beatles classics. The stylistic range is also impressive! There's a bit of classic 70s soul style here, but its also proudly contemporary, with some post-neo soul touches that work very well. A majority of the tracks are in a laidback, intimate mode that serves Roberta strongly. Solid late work from a soul legend! Includes "In My Life", "Hey Jude", "We Can Work It Out", "Let it Be", "Oh Darling", "I Should Have Known Better", "Come Together", "Isn't It A Pity", "And I Love Him", "Here, There And Everywhere" and more. 12 tracks in all. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
