The first-ever recording from this legendary Senegalese band – unissued for years, and finally brought to light in this beautiful package! The set was recorded live in 1979 as a night club performance – and because of that, it's got a really cooking sound right from the start – a bit more grit than you might hear from a group like this in the studio, with an especially strong emphasis on the percussion – which is often the highest element in the mix! Yet there's also some great guitar and horns – ringing out brilliantly over the top, with lots of jazzy elements in their phrasing – all of which makes for a really unique set all the way through. Titles include "Dagath", "Mariama", "Gossar", "Sama Yaye Boye", "Righie Righie", "Cherrie Coco", and "Kouye Magana".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
