Earth Jones
CD (Item 612183) PAJ/Quicksilver, 1982 — Condition: New Copy
Soaring, righteous sounds from Elvin Jones – an early 80s session, but one that cooks as strongly as his most soulful albums from the 70s! In fact, there's almost a focus or tightness here that could sometimes be missing from other Jones albums – a really bold, sharp use of the group's excellent quintet lineup – Dave Liebman on soprano sax and flute, Terumasa Hino on cornet, George Mraz on bass, and Kenny Kirkland on piano – all players driven on by the kind of bold, never-ending sense of flow that Jones really picked up during his post-Coltrane years! Liebman and Hino are especially great – and titles include "Three Card Molly", "The Top Of The Middle", "Earth Jones", "Never Let Me Go" and "Day & Night". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
