Sweet guitars, creepy keyboards, and even a bit of funk from time to time – all wrapped up beautifully in this vintage horror soundtrack from Goblin! There's a bit less rock here than on other Goblin albums – and instead, there's almost a John Carpenter-like sense of spareness that comes through especially well in the keyboards – with some great moody numbers that step along in a slowly-building style, almost like the best of 70s cop show work – moving the group past some of their more rockish or jamming postures. The spare, minimal approach only seems to make things spookier than before – and titles include "Vibrazioni", "Metamorfosi", "Visioni", "Patrick", and "Transmute".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A very dark score for this Viking fantasy film – one that comes across more like some vintage industrial and noise experiments – especially when heard away from the images on the screen! A funky classic from Galt MacDermot! The record is Galt's score for the blacksploitation film that starred Godfrey Cambridge and Raymond St Jacques – and it's a mix of vocal and instrumental tunes that takes off from the sound of his late 60s work. Incredible! This album is a masterpiece of subtle rock beauty, and it's still one of our favorite albums of all time. Cotillion, 1970. New Copy (reissue)
The end of the road for the Velvets – but also one of the group's longest-lasting legacies! The sound is tighter than on earlier albums, with a bit more of a somber post-fix approach to rock and roll – one that really points towards the direction Lou Reed would take in his own work, ...
