Sweet guitars, creepy keyboards, and even a bit of funk from time to time – all wrapped up beautifully in this vintage horror soundtrack from Goblin! There's a bit less rock here than on other Goblin albums – and instead, there's almost a John Carpenter-like sense of spareness that comes through especially well in the keyboards – with some great moody numbers that step along in a slowly-building style, almost like the best of 70s cop show work – moving the group past some of their more rockish or jamming postures. The spare, minimal approach only seems to make things spookier than before – and titles include "Vibrazioni", "Metamorfosi", "Visioni", "Patrick", and "Transmute".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sidewalk, 1969. New Copy (reissue)
Fantastic funkiness! Although Les Baxter's best known for his easy listening work in the late 50s/early 60's, this 1969 biker flick soundtrack is a motherlode of funky funky tracks, and a veritable cornucopia of breakbeats! Highlights include the classics "Hogin' Machine" and "Hot ... LP, Vinyl record album
Contour, 1975. New Copy (reissue)
Nice funky 70s instrumentals, composed by Alan Tew, and performed by the group Bullet – a hip electric combo with a tight sound library feel. The overall style reminds us of Lalo Schifrin or Quincy Jones cop show work from the early 70s – with some tasty keyboards, plenty of riffing, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Finders Keepers (UK), 1971. New Copy
Don Gere's dusty, jangly soundtrack to the bikers and werewolves and satanists (oh my!) epic Werewolves On Wheels – a pretty great one with spare, post folk psych atmosphere, a little bit of groovy country rock, eerily percussive errata and choice soundbites from the flick! Finders Keepers ... LP, Vinyl record album
Jazz Haus (Germany), Early 50s. New Copy
Rare work from female pianist Jutta Hipp – an artist who's probably known to most for her Blue Note sessions of the 50s, but who's heard here on some German recordings from younger years! Most of the material is live, but well-recorded – and even at this point, Hipp's touch on the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Truth & Soul, 2005. New Copy (reissue)
Easily one of the greatest new funk records of the 21st Century – and a set that goes way beyond some of the cliches that are currently gripping others in the deep funk underground! El Michels Affair have a cool, easygoing style to their music – one that's as much 70s jazz as it is 60s ... LP, Vinyl record album
