Sweet guitars, creepy keyboards, and even a bit of funk from time to time – all wrapped up beautifully in this vintage horror soundtrack from Goblin! There's a bit less rock here than on other Goblin albums – and instead, there's almost a John Carpenter-like sense of spareness that comes through especially well in the keyboards – with some great moody numbers that step along in a slowly-building style, almost like the best of 70s cop show work – moving the group past some of their more rockish or jamming postures. The spare, minimal approach only seems to make things spookier than before – and titles include "Vibrazioni", "Metamorfosi", "Visioni", "Patrick", and "Transmute".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Legendary Italian prog combo Goblin – reunited in the studio on the cusp of their 2013 tour – and sounding as vital as ever! This great EP is a slight departure for the Death Waltz label – in that it's a contemporary set, rather than a straight up soundtrack – but the group ... LP, Vinyl record album

Did filmmaking ever get any better than this? We'd be hard pressed to think so – what with Michael York and Farrah Fawcett-Majors running around in the future, living in a hedonistic world in which you can have anything you want, until you turn 30, and are executed! Great stuff – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

A sweet funky set from the 70s – originally recorded as a sound library session, but handled by Italian soundtrack maestro Alessandro Alessandroni! You might know Alessandroni's music best from the 60s, and this set is a later updating of the same groove – one that brings in a bit more ... LP, Vinyl record album

A totally excellent soundtrack! This is one of the maddest we've heard from the 70s – with a baroque mix of wah wah funk and sophisticated orchestrations, very much in the mode of work by David Axelrod or some of the backings heard on Serge Gainsbourg's best records. No surprise it's ... LP, Vinyl record album

A very dark score for this Viking fantasy film – one that comes across more like some vintage industrial and noise experiments – especially when heard away from the images on the screen! An unusual later album from Witch – one that has a sweet funky style at the core – a mode that shows the group picking up a fair bit of disco and club from the American scene, and fusing it with their older Zamrock styles to create a really unique sound overall! Damn, is this a great record! The album's not only one of the best blacksploitation soundtracks ever recorded, it's also one of James Brown's funkiest outings of the early 70s! Nearly every cut's a winner, and James gets some very funky help from The JBs, who groove hard on the best instrumental ... LP, Vinyl record album

What can we say? This is one of the greatest soul soundtracks ever! In a market that was dominated by the big-selling Shaft and Superfly albums, Roy slipped in this masterful blend of jazzy vibes and wah wah funk that's easily one of the best-composed records of the blacksploitation genre!
