The great LA punk quartet got a little more melodic and tuneful for their second album, with the vocal exchanges between John and Exene just a tiny bit sweeter and Billy Zoom's rockabilly guitar work often taking a over a bit on the Ramones inspired chords. But the songs are as heavy and caustic as ever, making Wild Gift a huge step forward in the evolution of punk rock and an equal to the group's monumental Los Angeles. Titles include "The Once Over Twice", "We're Desperate", "Adult Books", "I'm Coming Over", "In This House That I Call Home", "White Girl", "Some Other Time", and "Year 1". (Original Slash pressing, with inner sleeve. Side 1 has marks that click a bit on tracks two and three. Cover has some ring & edge wear and a cut corner.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A classic deep soul set from Eloise Laws – an early album recorded for Invictus Records, and done with stellar production from Brian Holland! The title cut's a monster, one of the best tracks on the label from the 70s – with some wonderfully spacey keyboards, funky drums and bass ... LP, Vinyl record album
