CD (Item 452739) Atlantic/WEA (UK), Early 70s — Condition: New Copy

The Persuaders may always be remembered for their classic "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" – a harmony tune that really set the scene for groups to come in the 70s – but as you'll hear on the set, they've got a heck of a lot more to offer than their hit – a rich legacy of harmony soul that's easily some of the best of their generation! This 20 track set brings together material the group recorded for Atlantic from 1971 to 1975 – tracks that started out in a very fragile harmony mode, but which also showed them maturing greatly in the space of a few short years – hitting a more adult, positive style that was a bit similar to the progression taken by Blue Magic a few years later. Some tracks pick up the groove a bit more – showing the influence of the Philly groove as the 70s wore on – and even in that mode, The Persuaders still sound great – mixing their excellent vocals with soaring Sigma-styled rhythms. Titles include "Thin Line Between Love & Hate", "Blood Brothers", "Bad Bold & Beautiful Girl", "Thigh Spy", "Mr Sunshine", "Let's Get Down Together", "We're Just Trying To Make It", "You Musta Put Something In Your Love", "Once In A Lifetime Thing", "Please Stay", "Stay With Me", "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", "Hold On", "Somebody's Got To Do Something", and "Love Gonna Pack Up & Walk Out".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
