Strong work in Charles' post-Prestige mode – the style in which he turned his keyboard skills to other non-Hammond instruments, like Fender Rhodes, clavinet, and mini-moog. Tracks are a mix of smooth soulful numbers and more jazz funk oriented ones – and the whole thing's got a sophisticated sound that's pretty darn striking, especially when you consider that Charles handled all the arrangements and most of the production. Titles include "Upper Atlantis", "In The Land Of Mu", "Drifting", "Mona Lisa", and "The Great Pyramid". (Cover has light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Rare Bird, Late 60s. Very Good-
A great set of early tracks by Charles Earland – most likely recorded in Philly before his years with Prestige, issued afterwards to cash in on his fame! The label bills Charles as "organ playing Charles Earland" – just in case there's a mistake – but there's no ... LP, Vinyl record album

Charles Earland did the funky score for this obscure Kung Fu movie – and it's one of his best albums of the time! Jump For Joy
Mercury, 1958. Good
An interesting early side by Cannonball that captures him before he'd really found his voice – and when the folks at Mercury still didn't really know what to do with him. The record's a tightly arranged set of tracks from Duke Ellington's musical "Jump For Joy" – with ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the weird LPs that French Horn player John Graas made in the 50's, featuring that cumbersome instrument in a set of surprisingly light and loose jazz tracks. One of the best albums that Al Cohn and Zoot Sims ever cut together – and that's saying a lot, given the strength of their collaborations during the 50s and 60s! A nice little set by Joe – recorded live, and much more freewheeling than some of his other albums from the time!
