CD (Item 477241) YB Music/Quannum, 2008 -- Condition: New Copy
Brazilian funk from Curumin -- a contemporary set, but one that features a fair bit of old school influences as well! In a way, Curumin's music is sort of an update of the 70s samba soul sound with a bit more beats -- taking the older Brazilian styles into a 21st Century range, and dropping in some surprising sounds and careful touches that really make the set sparkle! There's hardly a feel of gimmick here -- especially once you get past the first track or two -- and we're surprised at the depth of the music, as Curumin seems to be working here with even more sensitivity than before. Guests include Marku Ribas, Lucas Santtana, and Blackalicious -- and titles include "Compacto", "Kyoto", "Dancando No Escuro", "Magrela Fever", "Caixa Preta", "Saida Bangu", "Misterio Stereo", "Mal Eestar Card", and "Sambito". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
