CD (Item 599207) Gema/Combo, 1966 — Condition: New Copy

It's hard not to have a fiesta with the music of El Gran Combo – given that their upbeat grooves are always so great! This mid 60s swinger has the combo really taking off – working with twin trumpets and saxophone in the lead, really wrapped together tightly over the sharp percussion at the bottom – all given a strong sense of direction through the piano of Rafael Ithier! Vocals are by Andy Montanez and Pellin Rodriguez – two singers with soulful undercurrents who really make the group great – and titles include "Eso Merece Un Trago", "El Embustero", "Bacoso", "Cienfuegos", "El Negro De San Anton", "Paleco", "La Pelota", and "Fiesta Con El Gran Combo".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
