Max Roach With The Boston Percussion Ensemble

LP (Item 77303) Mercury, Late 50s — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

5.00 5

One of Max's most experimental albums from the 50s – a set of serious compositional works performed in conjunction with the Boston Percussion Ensemble. The feel is very much in the mode of 20th century classical work, such as the recordings in the 60s by the Percussions Of Strasbourg – with a wide variety of percussion instruments used on the set, and Roach's drums at the center. Titles include "The Music Inn Suite", "Evolution", and "Variations On A Familiar Theme" – all written by Harold Farberman, who directs the group. (White label promo. Cover has some wear, a bit of pen and some tape residue along the opening.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
