The great Lalo Schifrin plays piano and leads a crack group of studio players through some larger orchestral material with a nice jazzy feel! The overall approach is similar to Lalo's classic 60s soundtrack work – with nice solos arching out over sweeping strings and orchestral passages, and all tracks written with a good deal of punch, plus lots of little Latiny influences. Easily one of his most perfectly conceived albums of the 60s – and pretty darn tough to find. Tracks are long and titles include "El Salon Mexico", "New Fantasy", "Sabre Dance", and "Prelude #2". Verve, Mid 60s. Very Good Gatefold
Part of a great series that was released in conjunction with Esquire Magazine. The album's a nice split gatefold package filled with a book chock full of photos of 60's France, with cool travel notes. The disc combines sound effects and music (we think by Kenyon Hopkins), to create the effect of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Great funky instrumentals – not really Latin, but given sort of a pop-Latin soul feel by the great Claus Ogerman! The record's one of a few totally great little gems that Ogerman cut for RCA during the mid 60s – and it takes the bass-heavy sound of the German Easy movement of the 60s, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heavenly work from one of the dreamiest groups of all time! The Brass Ring are a blend of sexy saxes and mellow rhythms – perfectly summed up by the album's cover, which has a picture of a blonde lying nude in a bed, bedclothes around her, ashtray off to the side, underneath the caption ... Epic, 1968. Good+ Gatefold
Hard to find a stronger early album by Sly – as this one has him still funking hard, but also getting his soul bag together a bit more, hitting some really righteous vibes that mix together politics and partying in an incredibly seductive way. The album's filled with anthemic numbers like ... LP, Vinyl record album
