A lost bit of ensemble funk from the end of the 70s – served up in a mix of bass-heavy club and boogie styles! The group have a rolling groove that's a bit like some of the work by Instant Funk or other clubby funk acts – but the overall feel is a bit tighter and more small group-oriented, even though the end result is as tight and professional as anything coming out on some of the bigger labels at the time – making for a great mix of indie and mainstream funky club styles! Our favorite cuts may actually be the mellower ones – which have some great soul harmonies – but even the uptempo tracks are pretty nice, with a strong Philly-inspired sound overall – and titles include "Postcard Love Affair", "My Fantasy", "Push", "There You Go", "Fantasize", "I Judge The Funk", and "You're Always on My Mind".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A tremendous collection of work from the great Betty Swann – a hell of a soul singer who'd recorded previously for the Money and Capitol Records, but who really hit her height on this string of 70s singles for Atlantic Records! Betty never cut a full album for the label, so this period is a ... CD

One of the few 70s albums from the wonderful Major Harris as a solo act – and a lesser-known set that's a great follow up to the Major's previous records for Atlantic! The vibe here is a bit less Philly, but still in that mellow grooving style that works so well for Harris' vocals – a ... CD

An incredible trio album – not just for the powerful drums of the great Elvin Jones, but also for amazing work on reeds by a young Joe Farrell! Farrell's in his pre-CTI years here, and really lets loose in the space of the album's open setting – a trio that just features Jones on drums ... CD
