Call It What You Want

Add Item to Want List
LP (Item 366588) MCA, 1981 — Condition: Used

Bill's snapping along in a tight 80s groove on this one – leaving behind the funky fusion of his earlier years, and really developing the stronger soul side that showed up in his later Fantasy albums. The groove is really great overall – proof that there was more than a bit of jazz in the best 80s groove, and that the genre always came off better when handled by an artist who could bring that sound to the session! There's a really playful party feel to the best cuts, with lots of nice Bernard Wright-styled funky bits that go past the cliches of the genre, and into some fresher territory. Vocals are by Calvin Tillery and Lori Ham – and titles include "Call It What You Want", "TV", "Love Not My Life", "Snatch", "Come ON Out", "Your Style Ain't The Way", and "Summer Fun".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
