Six Moons Of Jupiter

CD (Item 474104) Finders Keepers (UK), 1971 -- Condition: New Copy

Weird sounds from studio wizard John Hill -- a set that features poetry from Susan Christie, baritone from Gerry Mulligan, and electronics from Walter Sear -- all wrapped up together as a totally hip concept album! The tunes are all named after moons of Jupiter, and there's definitely a spacey sort of feel to the set -- a sound that blends fuzzy guitars, analogue electronics, jazzy inflections, and Christie's thin spoken voice -- all in ways that almost make this sort of a rockish equivalent to some of the higher concept albums Cannonball Adderley did with David Axelrod! Hill plays a range of instruments -- including moog, Hammond organ, and flute -- and one of the darkest tracks on the record even features a haunting cello solo from Larry Gold. The mix of talents is amazing, and the resulting sound definitely lives up to its promise -- another sonic treasure unearthed by the mighty ears of the Finders Keepers crew! Titles include "Elara", "Europa", "Amalthea", "Ganymede", and "Io".  © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
