Impressions
CD (Item 600273) Hatology (Switzerland), 2002 — Condition: New Copy
Really sensitive work from the duo of David Liebman and Marc Copland – a piano/sax pairing that almost works together in the way that Liebman and Richie Beirach did years back! The tunes here are often older jazz numbers – beautiful takes on music by Jimmy Giuffre, Lester Young, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and John Coltrane – really extrapolated past their roots, into these subtle sonic sculptures through the interplay of Copland's careful tones on piano, and Liebman's musings on tenor and soprano sax. The set also features a few originals as well – and titles include "Blue In Green", "Cry Want", "Maiden Voyage", "Impressions", "When You're Smiling", "Blackboard", and "Lester Leaps In". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
