Storyteller – Live At Dizzy's Club Coca Cola
CD (Item 541663) Motema, 2010 — Condition: New Copy
Randy Weston's much more than a storyteller here – as the album's got a full force that moves beyond any strictly-personal work on piano – and instead goes for some of the best African-influenced styles that Weston first started working out at the end of the 50s! The album's core features a revisited version of Weston's African Cookbook – but done here in a much more expansive mode – with lots of free-flowing lines from Randy on the piano, which then open the way for full group grooving with players who include Benny Powell on trombone, TK Blue on saxophone, Alex Blake on bass, and Lewis Nash on drums! Titles include "The Shrine", "Chano Pozo", "African Sunrise", "The Bridge", "Tehuti", and "Wig Loose". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
