Freestyle Band

Add Item to Want List
CD (Item 609813) No Business (Lithuania), 1984 — Condition: New Copy

The band here definitely has a freestyle approach – one that's a bit free jazz, but also a bit of that New York spirit of the time of the recording – with rhythms as solidly in place as some of the more offbeat expressions! The album features key work on electric bass from Earl Freeman – who often uses his instrument in subtle ways – just shaping sounds at the background, while the hand drums of Philip Spigner provide most of the real rhythm of the record – and set Henry P Warner free to soar on both b-flat and alto clarinet! The sound is quite unique – unlike anything else we can think of, thanks to the creative contributions of all three players. Titles include "Dr Nunez", "Beef Thrust", "Bird Knows", "Pelican", and "The Roach Approach".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
