Lagos Chop Up manages to work a little bit of magic in its overall consistency – the tracklist features tunes from the mid 60s all the way through the beginning of the 80s without sacrificing even a shred of successive coherence! It's all the more impressive given the breadth of styles – from Fela-inspired Afro funk (naturally) to raw native folk, featuring percussion ensembles, street musicians and vocalists from many walks of life!
