A sweet sweet groover from Enchantment – and a record that may well be the group's greatest moment in the 80s! There's a tightness here that goes beyond the sound of Enchantment in previous years – yet the sound is also still pretty underground too – more electro soul than chart R&B, thanks to excellent use of keyboards and basslines – and a strong focus on the kind of heavy bottom groove that kept these guys spinning strong on the dancefloors, even when they weren't cracking radio as much. A few mellower numbers recall their great strength with a ballad – and show that their vocals can still open up beautifully when needed – and the whole thing's got a well-balanced groove that's kept the record strong for years. Titles include "Here's Your Chance", "Give It Up", "Come Be My Lover", "Don't Fight The Feeling", "I'm Dreaming", and "Gotta Find A Love".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

The only RCA album from Enchantment – and a great little set that has the group stretching out from their earlier records on United Artists! Massive massive work from Starship Orchestra – a trio of talents from the Norman Connors universe, but one who get some heavy help in the studio from arrangers Bobby Lyle, McKinley Jackson, and Jerry Peters! 2nd pressing of Aretha's first album for Columbia! Aretha sings hard jazz tracks with Ray Bryant and his combo, and although the album doesn't have the deep southern feel of her early Atlantic sessions, it's got a beautiful jazzy tinge that you don't really hear in her other recordings. Tell Me Where It Hurts
Columbia, 1981. Near Mint-
Sweet smooth soul from Walter Jackson – recording here in his later years, with a style that's a lot more modern than his classic 60s recordings for Okeh, but still surprisingly nice, and a great evolution of his "Iceman" soul sound! The set features Eugene Record's great title cut ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pretty darn great work from OC Smith – on of his biggest albums for Columbia! This one has the Chambers working in a number of styles, sweating hard in a gritty version of Otis Redding's "I Can't Turn You Loose" and to some funky percussion and call-and-response vocals on "Do Your Thing", and grooving softly on "Guess Who" and others. Other ... LP, Vinyl record album

The start of a tremendous run from Blue Magic – easily one of the greatest harmony groups of the 70s, a quintet we'd place in a rare class with heavy hitters like The Stylistics or The Moments!
