A sweet set of 80s groove material from keyboardist Kevin Toney – recording here away from The Blackbyrds, but still very much in a Fantasy Records mode! The set's kind of a "jazz fusion plus soul" outing – and features players that include Paul Jackson Jr, Bill Summers, Oscar Brashear, and Ray Obiedo – as well as vocalists Aaron Mills and Alton Green. Tracks are more electric than work by The Blackbyrds, but have a jazzy soul approach that's quite similar to work by Roy Ayers or Donald Byrd from the same time period. Titles include "Naima", "A Good Feeling", "Special K", "On Your Feet", "Chasin Rainbows", and "Spread The Word". (Out of print.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

2 of Johnny's best albums ever! The two records on this CD were the first that he cut for the Fantasy label during his comeback period of the mid 70s, and they both show Johnny turning his earlier bluesy style into a very dope Bay Area soul/funk groove, of the sort that would become his trademark ... Another fine compilation of 70's soul tracks from the Music Club label, and put together in a nice looking package that's a good deal for the money. There's 15 tracks in here, with nearly 75 minutes of Teddy's best stuff, including "Close The Door", "Turn Out the Lights", " ... CD

A sweet little set of classic 70s Philly – one of the best collections of work by the team of Gamble & Huff we've ever seen! There's nothing too obscure or offbeat here – and instead, the collection focuses mostly on the massive crossover tracks produced by the pair back in the day ... CD
