CD (Item 612444) Ace/Fuel, Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Amazing sounds from the legendary Ace Records – not just the blues promised in the title, but a fair bit of soul as well! The work here runs from the raw blues of the label's home state of Mississippi – to some even deeper soul from the nearby New Orleans scene – which Ace tapped often for some of its best recordings in the early 60s! There's a raw, gritty power to all the cuts here – and the package does a great job of bringing together some overlooked gems from Ace, and a handful of classics too – all supported by notes that seem to dig even deeper than usual for the Fuel label. Titles include "My Love Is Here To Stay" by Sammy Myers, "Mercy's Blues" by Mercy Baby, "Mother Told Me Not To Go" by Earl King, "Don't Take Your Love Away From Me" by Bobby Marchan, "Shed So Many Tears" by Elton Anderson, "Goodbye Blues" by Jesse Allen, "Looped" by Joe Dyson, "Shuckin Stuff" by Al Collins, "Hey Little Girl "by Frankie Lee Sims, "Baby Say You Will" by Jesse Allen, "Mean Mistreater" by Frankie Fair, "My Baby Boogies All The Time" by Big Boy Crudup, and "Bad Feeling Blues" by Lightnin Slim.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
