A moody late 80s score from Ennio Morricone – penned for a Nicolas Cage thriller known in the US as Time To Kill! The music is often quite mellow – that mature mode that Morricone hit in the decade, when it seemed that his style was even more sonically sensitive than ever – really rising up slowly from the lower reaches of hearing, as extremely moving moments of music flow quietly into the mix. Strings figure heavily in the instrumentation, but in a very untraditional way – and given the setting of the film, there's a light bit of percussion at points, which creates a subtle earthy feel. Some of the best moments have a timeless quality that's far better than the film – and titles include "Tempo De Amare", "Ansia E Sole", "Una Vicinia Africa", "Disperazione E Caos", "E Non Tornare", "Dimenticare L'Africa", and "Una Lontana Italia". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
