CD (Item 584252) Candid (UK), 1958 — Condition: New Copy

A lost live set – billed under Lee Morgan's name as a leader, but essentially a Jazz Messengers performance from 1958! All the hallmarks of the Messengers at their live best are firmly in place – long numbers with plenty of room for solo space – as the key players in the group stretch out and inflect familiar tunes with fresh solos that really open things up! If you dig Art Blakey live material from the time, you'll have plenty to love here – as the lineup features Art on drums, Lee Morgan on trumpet, Benny Golson on tenor, Bobby Timmons on piano, and Jymie Merritt on bass – on titles that include "Night In Tunisia", "Whisper Not", "Moanin", "Along Came Betty", and "I Remember Clifford" – all recorded live in Holland in November, 1958.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
