Natural High 4 – 2 Step Soul, Boogie Fusion, & Rare GrooveVarious
CD (Item 76994) WEA (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
A masterpiece of a collection – one that brings together smooth soul and jazzy grooves – with a real emphasis on the overlooked gems of the post-disco years! The set follows very strongly in the great territory traversed by previous volumes – a wealth of excellent soul sides from the Warner and Atlantic catalog of the late 70s and early 80s – a time when both labels weren't always topping the charts, but were really keeping things real with an ever-growing array of excellent new artists, plus a few older favorites who'd made the transition to the era wonderfully. The sound here is sophisticated, but never stuffy – smooth, but never slick – and always soulful, in a fresh and spontaneous way that makes the work on the set some of our favorite ever in the mellow soul vein! Tracks include "Supernatural Thing (Pt 1)" by Ben E King, "Come On Back To Me Lover" by Margie Joseph, "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me (45 edit)" by the Staples, "I Sho Like Groovin With Ya" by Johnny Bristol, "Whachersign" by Pratt & McClain, "Remember The Love" by Wee Gee, "Georgy Porgy" by Side Effect, "One Way Love Affair" by Sadane, "Be My Lady (45 edit)" by the Meters, "Nice & Easy" by Leroy Hutson, and "It's Something" by Brenda Russell. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
