Love Don't Grow On Trees (180 gram pressing)

LP (Item 612650) Columbia/FTG, 1982 — Condition: New Copy

A strange cover, but a mighty soulful set from Waldo – a really cool Columbia Records soul group with Tyrone Lester and James Brown on vocals, plus some sweet keyboards from Calvin Brunson too! The sound is tight, with the keyboards and basslines really setting the groove – with some nice jazzy flourishes that work perfectly with the album's sweet 80s sound! Vocals are quite nice too – and the whole thing's got a less commercial feel than some of its contemporaries – the kind of nicely understated soul record that Columbia could do so well at the time. Titles include "When It Comes To You", "Looks Can Be Deceiving", "You Bring Out The Freak In Me", and "Spend The Night".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
