Awake In A Dream – The Project 3 Recordings (Touch 'N Go With The Critters/Critters) (plus bonus track)
CD (Item 581049) Project/Now Sounds (UK), 1968/1969 — Condition: New Copy
A great bit of dreamy sunshine pop from The Critters –their recordings for the Project 3 label, which also home to The Free Design – the group's 2 Project 3 albums and a bonus track on this great CD compilation from the Now Sounds label! Touch 'N Go With The Critters was mostly written and produced by lead singer Jimmy Ryan – who's got a voice that's sweet, yet kind of "broken" inside – a style that makes for some really wonderful delivery on the album's original tunes. Instrumentation includes a bit of organ and some really great jangly guitars – and the production also has some nice trippy touches that deepen the sunshine sound of the set! Titles include "Touch N Go", "Because You Came To See Me Today", "Margie Girl", "Awake In A Dream", "Cool Sunday Morning", and "Forget It". The Critters album from the following year is nearly as great, with more great numbers written or co-written by Ryan, including "She Said She Loved Him", "Colleen", "Wooden Soldiers", "Whistling A Rhyme", the group-credited "Harold" and more. Includes the bonus track "Lisa, But Not The Same". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
