LP (Item 480640) Wyncote, Late 60s -- Condition: Used

Kind of a "fake" Latin set -- but a great one as well! The group's not named on the cover or the label -- so we've used the title for our entry -- but they're a pretty cool studio combo with a great sense of Latin and a great sense of soul -- one that makes the tunes a hip batch of late 60s instrumentals that swing nicely between soul jazz and boogaloo! The two Latin numbers are especially great -- a cover of "Hey Leroy", and an original titled "El Senor Joe" -- which features plenty of timbales and congas next to some hard-rolling piano. But the other tracks are good too, more piano-driven soul jazz cuts with some pretty fiesty percussion -- in the best Ramsey Lewis mode of the 60s. These cuts include "New Jersey Waltz", "Kimberly", "Epilogue", "Wind Jammer", and "Blues For Bernard" -- all really great original numbers!  © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
