A sweet set of soul jazz tracks that features material pulled from Ray's killer albums for Cadet! The record collects tunes from Ray's stay at that label during the mid 60s – and it features many soulful piano numbers with tight small combo backing, and some occasional larger arrangements by Richard Evans. Titles include "Mrs Robinson", "Little Suzie", "Bag's Groove", "Cubano Chant", "Gotta Travel On", "Pata Pata", "Lil Darlin", "Ramblin", and the classic "Slow Freight". (Cover has ring & edge wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Cadet, 1969. Near Mint-
Fuzzy, funky genius from the great Jack McDuff – a killer late 60s set done for Chess Records, and one that mixes his own searing Hammond with wicked arrangements from the mighty Richard Evans! Heavy Exposure
Cadet, 1969. Very Good
Excellent stuff – a record that we love it to death, and listen to all the time! Woody Herman's band meets the soulful arrangements of Richard Evans, and the whole thing cooks nicely in the Chess studios in Chicago. The result is a tasty blend of soulful big band tracks, with a strident ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cadet, 1975. Very Good-
One of the great funky electronic records recorded by McDuff for Cadet! Includes some excellent groovers with a tight loping funk feel – like "Blue Monsoon", "A Long Goodie", and a nice cover of "Don't Mess With Mister T". Jack plays moog and Fender Rhodes, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atlantic, 1976. Very Good+
Mid-70's compilation of his earlier jazz recordings for Atlantic – but with some unreleased cuts too! Two of the cuts here never appeared on any album, and one is presented without the edits that graced the original. Nice straight jazz stuff, with Roy's vibes ringing out in a cool modal way. ... Mellow Madness
A&M, 1973. Very Good+
A really great, oft-overlooked album from the best period of Quincy Jones! This album is quite possibly Quincy's most farthest-reaching – as he works in an array of styles that really shows his growing genius in the studio – not just jazz and soundtrack modes, but more soul-based ones, ...
