Graham Gouldman Thing
CD (Item 464384) RCA/Rev-Ola (UK), 1968 — Condition: New Copy
Wonderful late 60s British pop – one of the few solo albums issued under the name of Graham Gouldman – initially famous for penning 60s hits for other UK acts, later known for work in 10CC – and here presented in a beautifully personal, somewhat baroque style that's not unlike the late 60s RCA work of Nilsson! All tunes are originals by Graham – some earlier hits done by bigger groups, some a bit fresher – and all tracks are arranged by John Paul Jones with a sound that's slightly flowery, but never too sleepy – slightly echoing the best modes of Herman's Hermits, for whom Gouldman had written some hits. No surprise, the album's co-produced by Graham with Peter Noone of the Hermits – in a great blend of janglepop guitars and strings – and titles include "Behind The Door", "Pawnbroker", "Pamela Pamela", "Chestnut", "My Father", "Who Are They", "The Impossible Years", and "No Milk Today". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
