Tropical Breeze
CD (Item 538310) Inner City, 1981 — Condition: New Copy
Very early work by Cassandra Wilson – back when she was working with the fusion group Jasmine! The group's got a sweetly grooving sound with plenty of the tropical touches hinted at in the title – played by a unique lineup that includes flute, violin, bass, and percussion – as well as harp, which sounds nicer here than you might think! Tracks have a warm and sunny glow, contrasted nicely by Cassandra's deeply soulful vocals, great to hear at this early stage. Many of the tracks on the set are translated versions of Brazilian jazz classics – and titles include "O Pepita", "Rose Tower", "Dream Street", "Everything I Do With You", and "Pretty Black One", a good version of "Upa Neguinho"! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
