Svensk Jazzhistoria Volume 10/Swedish Jazz History 10 – Watch Out – 1965 to 1969Various
CD (Item 626805) Caprice (Sweden), Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
Watch out – as Swedish jazz is definitely on the move – really stretching out its wings in these late 60s recordings, and coming up with an amazing range of new ideas in the process! Some of the work here is decidedly modern – music to rival some of the most creative sounds of the American "new thing" generation, or the growing wave of free jazz players in the US and Europe – while other tracks offer up a deeper refinement of serious ideas, including some great higher-concept material from older players who really continue to develop strongly during this time. The package features over five hours of music on 4CDs, with a number of previously unissued recordings that make the whole thing essential to any jazz collector – even in the unlikely case that you've got scads of original recordings from the time. The large booklet is great, the package super-handsome, and the CDs feature music by Gunnar Lindgren, Red Mitchell, Don Cherry, Hansson & Karlsson, Roland Keijsers, Bengt Frippe Nordstrom, Sven Hessle, Putte Wickman, Radiojazzgruppen, Lennart Aberg, Bengt Hallberg, Lars Sjosten, Peps & Blues Quality, GL Unit, Vieux Carre Jazzmen, Kustbandet, Lars Werner, Staffan Abeleen, and many others. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
