Progress
LP (Item 576741) Kindred Spirits (Netherlands), 1977 — Condition: New Copy
An Afro Funk classic – killer solo work from Tony Allen – originally known as the drummer for Fela during his key years – stepping out here on his own with the Afrika 70 band! The album's a monster all the way through – every bit as great as any of Fela's 70s classics, but handled with a weird twist, too – the kind of offbeat groove we've come to love from Allen's revival of the past decade – laid out here in a wonderful groove that's very drum-heavy on the bottom! The album's only got two long tracks – "Progress" and "Afro Disco Beat" – but each runs for a side apiece, which makes for plenty of funky changes! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
