Disco grooves, but with a definite difference – given that Jo Bisso had previously worked on the Parisian club scene, and brings a special flourish to this American album from the late 70s! Jo sings lead vocals on the side-long "Love Somebody" – a tune that builds strongly as Bisso gets answered by a trio of lovely ladies who really brighten up the sound – and who then seem to take over even more on the flipside working with singer Claudia Ferrari. This second side is even better than the first – as things get a bit more spare and stripped-down – snaking out on the smooth stepper "Your Love", getting some funky moogy touches on the P&P-like "Let's Keep It Together", and warming up on the mellow disco number "Thank You Baby". Marlin, 1978. Very Good+
Gregg Diamond takes his Bionic Boogie sound to a different level – soaring to the skies with a leaner disco groove than before – almost hinting at the coming 80s groove in the process! The rhythms are nice and tight, and often augmented by keyboards that sweeten things up – never ... LP, Vinyl record album

A&M, 1974. Near Mint-
A really wonderful album – a warm bit of brown-eyed soul from the hip LA scene of the early 70s! Daniel Valdez has a style that's part Jose Feliciano, part Tim Buckley – and since we love both of those artists a lot, you can imagine how much we like this record! He's got Jose's sweet ... De-Lite, 1975. Very Good
Nice compilation of some of Kool & The Gang's best early funk tracks for De-Lite. The record's got lots of nice groovers, including "Soul Vibrations", "Music is the Message", "Rated X", "Jungle Boogie", "Hollywood Swinging", "Funky ... LP, Vinyl record album

H&L, Late 70s. Near Mint-
The Ingram Family was all over this one – as Barbara Ingram handled the vocal arrangements, and Butch, John, James, and William arranged the instrumenta songs. The whole family wrote most of the tracks – and the lovely trio of 3 singers named Sassafras handle the vocals. Tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album

OV Wright's getting a bit smooth, but still sounding great – working here with really full backings from Willie Mitchell, at a level that's a bit more upbeat than his previous album at Hi Records! There's a bit more of a groove on these tunes, but most are still miles from the dancefloor ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mercury, 1977. Near Mint-
Not as strong as Coke's earlier work on Mercury – but not a bad album overall, thanks to some tight production work by Pat Gleeson, who's also most likely playing the cool keyboards on the record. Most of the tunes are aimed at the dancefloor – not really disco numbers, but the sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cold Chillin, 1995. Near Mint- 2LP
Nice mid 90s work from the legendary Kool G Rapp! 4,5,6 was first of a string of comebacks for the man from QB with the crisp lisp – and a strong slice of mid 90s hip hop. Beats by Buckwild, Dr Butcher, T Ray and Naughty Shorts. There's a nice duet with Nas on "Fast Life", also ... LP, Vinyl record album

Groovy session that features this star tenorist of the Jack McDuff group as the leader, but which also has the same group backing him up – including McDuff on organ, George Benson on guitar, and Joe Dukes on drums.
