Quite possibly our favorite-ever album by the Impressions! The record is a key transitional one – and it has them opening up the politics that were often hidden by spiritual metaphors on earlier ABC albums, into a righteous soul groove that hints a lot at the overblown direction Curtis Mayfield would take in the 70s, yet which still retains all the tightness of the group's earlier work. Nearly every single cut's a classic – and the group outdid themselves vocally, especially Curtis, who always makes our heart break on this one! Donny Hathaway and Johnny Pate handled the arrangements, and tracks include "Choice Of Colors", "The Girl I Find", "Mighty Mighty (Spade & Whitey)", "Soulful Love", and "Seven Years".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

ARC, 1968. New Copy (reissue)
A very hip tribute to Otis Redding – one that has The Majestics hitting hard in an instrumental mode that's almost like some of the Mar-Keys or Bar-Kays work on Stax from the mid 60s – tight drums on the bottom, Hammond and guitar grooving in the middle, and some occasional horns ... Executive Suite 1
Polydor, 1974. New Copy (reissue)
A gem of a full-length set from Executive Suite – a Philly quartet who are probably best known for their singles in the 70s, but who really find a great way to open up here in the course of an expanded album! Some of the tracks are nice and long – done in a two-part style that really ... LP, Vinyl record album

People, 1975/1996. New Copy (reissue)
One of the most fantastic albums by the JBs – a masterpiece of funky jamming, tight instrumentation, and that free yet tight style of the James Brown 70s years! Hutson II
Curtom, 1976. New Copy (reissue)
One of our favorite soul albums ever – a complete masterpiece from the mighty Leroy Hutson, easily one of the greatest soul singers of the 70s! Curtom, 1975. New Copy (reissue)
A great album by Curtis Mayfield – filled with some excellent lesser-known gems! There's No Place Like America was Curtis' scathing testament to the State Of The Union – and it's got a hip political tone that's right up there with the best of his early 70s songwriting – perhaps ... A wonderful package – a set that brings together two rare funk albums by Newban, an early version of Atlantic Starr – plus bonus tracks too! Heavy funk from the great Jimmy Ellis – billed here with a "preacher" in his name, which is a great indication of the spiritual soul going on in the music!
