The Dynamites get some heavy help here – vocalist Charles Walker, who's already recorded with the group, and the legendary Bettye Lavette – who works here with Charles in a real old-soul, deep soul duet! The combo slow down their action perfectly for the track – hard-burning with a vintage Fame Studios sort of feel – leaving Charles and Bettye plenty of room to work some magic with the lyrics! Walker helms the tune solo on "Serendipity" – a nice hard groover with funky organ over bass – and one of the group's most sock-soul-sounding rhythms!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Outta Sight (UK), 1961/1962. New Copy
Early work from the great Joe Simon – working here with the group of Johnny Heartsman, in a style that's a lot jazzier than in later years! Isn't It Just A Shame/Time Marches On
Outta Sight (UK), 1966. New Copy
There's nothing shameful about this great little tune – a loping midtempo number that's got this wonderful lead vocal from Kenny Wells – supported by some sweet group harmonies on the chorus! Lainie Hill steps out on the flipside on the wonderful "Time Marches On" – a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Daptone, 2005. New Copy
The first funky outing we've ever heard from The Budos Band – but a really tasty funky set, with a raw and stripped-down feel! "Up From The South" is a chugging, churning mass of snapping drum breaks and scratchy guitar – topped by a well-crafted horn part that comes in as ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Stroll (pts 1 & 2)
Daptone, 2009. New Copy
An uptempo funk gem from Binky Griptite – guitarist for the Dap-Kings, so you know he has true school funk & soul in his blood, but he's also a pretty effective vocalist – totally driving it home on "The Stroll"! "The Stroll" is straight up, unambiguously about ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Daptone/Voodoo Funk, Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)
Wow! Straight up incredible Afro Funk from Benin's El Rego Et Ses Commandos – the pummeling, yet soulful "Vimado Wingnan" and the slower, more hypnotic "E Nan Mian Nuku" – rare early 70s numbers on Daptone! "Vimado Wingnan" is one of those tracks that's ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
