La Guepe
CD (Item 599917) Futura (France), 1971 — Condition: New Copy
Sounds beyond compare – not just free jazz from the start of the 70s, but music that goes way beyond any simple expectations or classifications we might have! The session was put together by inventive French jazzman Bernard Vitet – who plays trumpet, piano, violin, and vibes on the record – but the overall approach is clearly collaborative, and has some 20th Century elements that almost recall some of the most memorable albums on the Italian Cramps label from the mid 70s! As with some of those, the date is a criss-crossing of contemporary thinking on musical structures with some of the freer jazz elements on the European scene – executed with a very wide range of sounds that come from the soprano and baritone sax of Jouk Minor, piano of Francois Tusques, bass and piano of Beb Guerin, tape recorders of Dominique Dalmasso, voice of Francoise Achard, trumpet of Jean-Paul Rondepierre, and vibes, percussion, and alto of Jean Guerin. Titles include "Et Cetera", "Balle De Fusil", "La Guepe E Le Fruit", "Trolley Gresilleur", and "Tojours Fourre Dans La Nectarotheque". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
