CD (Item 467614) Seeds/Porter, 1972 -- Condition: New Copy
A sweet little set from the 70s -- heavy on the electric piano, and also topped with some occasional vocals that have a very righteous feel! The group's headed by keyboardist Mait Edey -- who plays a fair bit of Wurlitzer electric piano here -- in long, stretched-out lines that come off with a groove that's different than Fender Rhodes -- a bit rougher, and almost rootsier, despite the electricity -- and a perfect match for the vocals of Brenda "Latifah" James, who sings on 3 of the album's cuts. The rest of the lineup includes guitar (often in a wah-wah mode), bass, alto, and tenor -- and many of the tracks have a really great slow-building groove with a great sense of space in the rhythms -- almost like the funkiest of Vince Guaraldi's electric work. Titles include "Siren Song", "Pendulum", "Gin House Blues", "Fair Breeze On Buzzard's Bay", "Wobbly Bird Blues", and "Granny On The Gramophone". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
