Sunday In New York (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 499386) Venus (Japan), 2005 -- Condition: New Copy
Pure brilliance from tenor giant Eric Alexander -- one of the few modern players we'd put on a par with our favorites from older years! Alexander's got a depth of tone and sense of poise that's simply wonderful on the set -- one that's never staid, but which continues to grow beautifully over the years -- using the tenor sax in a sense of freely creative expression at a level that matches that of Hank Mobley, Tubby Hayes, or Sonny Rollins back in the 60s. The group on this set features John Hicks on piano, John Webber on bass, and Joe Farnsworth on drums -- and Hicks' piano is especially nice, and opens up Alexander's sound with a sensitivity that matches his best recordings with Harold Mabern. Titles include "Sunday In New York", "Watch What Happens", "Avotcja", "Alone Together", "Dearly Beloved", and "My Girl Is Just Enough Woman For Me". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
