The bugs take over on this weird early album from Folkways – an assortment of odd insect sounds and noises, all with some nicely hokey narration! The quality of the recording is surprisingly gritty – so that the vibrations of wings and legs almost comes across like an early set of analogue electronics – which it might well pass as, if it weren't for the narration. Classics include "Fly Caught On Fly Paper", "Viceroy Butterfly In Flight", "Small Longhorn Beetle Shriek", "Dragonfly In Flight", "Japanese Beetles On A Rose", and "Hover Fly". (Special limited CD – pressed up for us by the Smithsonian Folkways label. Comes with original cover artwork, and the CD also features a PDF file with the original liner notes and other materials from the original record release.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
