4.70 5

Hard-grooving stuff from JJ – played with a lot more bite than usual, and recorded live with a group that features Nat Adderley, Tommy Flanagan, and Albert Heath. Tracks include "Now's The Time", "Misterioso", "Walkin", and "Tune Up" – jazz standards, mostly, but done very tightly by the group! (Dutch pressing, in a slightly different cover. Cover has a peeled gloss finish and light wear, with some light stains and a couple of stickers on the back.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Columbia, 1982. Very Good
An 80s album by McCoy Tyner, but easily one of his most soulful sessions ever – thanks to help from Phyllis Hyman and a host of great guest stars! The sound's a bit more tightly arranged than some of Tyner's 70s sessions, but there's still plenty of fire here too – a bit of a Latin ... LP, Vinyl record album
Chance Encounter
Columbia, 1982. Very Good+
Nothing too "chance" about this encounter – as the album's got a very full, carefully put-together approach – completely arranged and produced by Ramsey Lewis himself, but definitely using lessons learned from some of the other top-shelf talents who guided him during his years ... Feels So Good
Kudu, 1975. Very Good
An incredible batch of electric funk from Grover Washington Jr – easily one of his best albums ever! The record really picks up from the sweet CTI sound of the 70s – taking Bob James arrangements with a lot of space and electric keyboards, and letting Groover blow some wonderfully ...
