A landmark concert from the mid 80s – one held to honor the resurrection of the Blue Note label, featuring a wealth of some of the best players for the label – from the 80s back to the 50s bebop years. This is the last of 4 LPs, issued both separately and in a box set format, and features a nice quintet featuring Stanley Jordan, Charles Lloyd, Michel Petrucciani, Cecil McBee, and Jack DeJohnette. Tracks include "The Blessing", "Tone Poem", "Lady Day", "El Encanto", "How Long", "When You Wish Upon A Star", and "Jumpin Jack". (Cover has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Black Jazz, 1971. Near Mint-
One of the few albums ever cut by reedman Rudolph Johnson – a hell of a saxophonist, and one with a great ability to combine the spiritual with the searing – a bit like Joe Farrell at his CTI best, but not as freewheeling – nicely focused, and a little bit funky in all the right ...
