Souled Out
LP (Item 475174) Verve, 1967 — Condition: Used
One of the greatest blue eyed soul albums of the 60s – and one of the few full albums ever recorded by the mostly-singles Righteous Brothers! The album builds wonderfully on the duo's earlier work for Phil Spector – and uses Motown maestro Mickey Stevenson to give the record a sophisticated uptown soul sound that's a perfect match for the well-crafted vocals of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. The songs here are pretty fresh too – a batch of tunes that gets past their familiar hits, and features some great Motown influences from writers Leon Ware, Stevenson, and others. Titles include "Been So Nice", "Stranded In The Middle Of Noplace", "You Bent My Mind", "Without You I'd Be Lost", "Love Keeps Callin My Name", and "So Many Lonely Nights Ahead". (Shrinkwrap is a bit shopworn.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
